Click and Clack
Often advised, often ignored, this separation of power is helpful for lots of different odd problems that come up from a single source. Without it, I got what some thought was "back EMF" from the motors which killed the microcontroller and required resets all the time. So, separate the microcontroller power from the motor power and things will just run better.
